In the early spring of 1956 Gayl got orders to to go to frogman school and I had just gotten pregnant that winter, so it meant I had to leave before him with Davie and come back to the states, as I would be to close to having the baby when we would have had to leave together. That was hard to leave without him, but it wasn't going to be to many months before he could leave also.
We had a great time in Japan seeing different customs and areas that were so different than ours in the states. meeting new friends and was hard to say goodbye to everyone.
The picture of Davie was taken the day we flew out of Iwakuni, and he had on his Navy outfitit that my mom had made for him. The 3 of us flew to Tokyo and we stayed a couple nights in a hotel, and the one picture is taken out of the hotel window of the main street there. We did some sight seeing in Tokyo before leaving, and I got to see the Ginza which was a big shopping area with many many vendors. It wasn't fancy and was sort of like our flea markets here, or going through the fair buildings here with venders. They didn't just stand behind their stands and would come out and take hold of you trying to sell their wares. A little intimidating to say the least, and have to give them A for effort.

That frogman school...was that before they called it the navy seals, or was that a different time?
It was the same thing.
